Abstract

Periodic structures(phononic crystalsor metamaterial structures) exhibit the vibration band-gap characteristics as to achieve the purpose of vibration reduction. In the practical applications, it is necessary to optimize the vibration band-gap characteristics to satisfy the different vibration reduction requirements. In this paper, the research progress on the optimization of the vibration band-gap characteristics for periodic structures is reviewed. The methods of the design and investigationon the vibration band-gap characteristics of the periodic structuresoptimized by the unit-cell configurations, structural sizes and material parameters to achieve different vibration reduction requirements are described, and an outlook on some future research directions and ideas on the optimization of the vibration band-gapcharacteristics is given. In general, the optimization of the vibration band-gap characteristics of the periodic structures can effectively improve the vibration reduction characteristics of the structures, and it has a good application prospect.
