Abstract

To address the problems of long radiation exposure time, long positioning time, and low accuracy of the traditional distal locking method of the intramedullary nail, a surgical navigation system that includes trackable surgical tools is developed to realize orthopedic augmented reality. The system provides real-time and accurate drilling guidance information to enable doctors to complete the locking of the distal nail hole in the distal locking of the intramedullary nail and complete the locking of the distal nail hole. A precision experiment of surgical tools shows that the positioning error of the tip of the surgical drill is 1.55±0.55 mm, which basically meets the requirements of the distal locking operation of the intramedullary nail. The bone model experiment preliminarily verified the feasibility of the system in the clinic.
